Artist | Photographer | Woodworker | Teacher
About Me
As an academy trained artist, I practice in many different medias including photography, graphic arts, wood working, ceramics and sculpture. While I have been a practicing artist for my entire career, I began teaching fine art photography at Summit High School in 1999. Prior to teaching in the classroom, I owned and operated a local retail business specializing in high-end electronics and photographic equipment and services.
I did my undergraduate studies at the Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia, PA, and the Hartford Art School, in Hartford, CT. I later completed my Masters Degree in Art Education at Teacher's College, Columbia University. In 1998, I accepted a position at Teacher's College to redesign and oversee the photography program, one of the oldest photography programs in the country. Also during my time at Teacher's College, I did my practice teaching in Summit, NJ, and was invited to stay on while a new addition was added to the school allowing for two full time photography teachers.
Along with my wife Connie, I have raised three daughters who have each completed their undergraduate and graduate educations and live and work in the tri-state area.
In addition to my art and teaching, I have many other interests including sailing, antique cars and fly fishing.
